What does the fire log audit cover?
Weekly alarm tests (date, zone or call point, who, result), extinguishers, monthly emergency lighting, evacuation drills, training, fire risk assessment date, and whether faults were recorded and closed. Score each: done this period, missing, or cannot find.
Is a logbook a legal requirement?
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the Responsible Person to maintain fire precautions and be able to show evidence. It does not name a red book. BS 5839-1 is the usual weekly alarm-test practice. Follow your fire risk assessment if it sets a different regime.
