Private dining and party bookings for restaurants

Private dining and party bookings need a capacity, a deposit, and notes in the same diary as tables. A separate spreadsheet is how events get double-booked against Saturday service. The GM should see covers for the room and the floor in one place.

Capacity first, then the deposit

If the room holds 60, the diary should show 30 booked and 30 left — not a thread of “are we still holding Saturday?”. Deposits requested or received belong on the booking so the next shift does not re-sell the room.

Notes that the kitchen will actually see

Allergens, timings, speeches, and set menus fail when they live in the events manager’s inbox. Put them on the booking. Staff allergen detail still lives on the 14-allergen recipe chart.

Questions about private dining bookings

How should restaurants take private dining bookings?
Put the hold in the same diary as tables, with a max capacity, a deposit status, and the notes that affect the kitchen. A side spreadsheet will be sold against when the host stand is busy.
What is the difference between a party and an event?
A party is a large table in service. An event takes a room or a service and needs a capacity and usually a deposit. Both belong in the booking diary. Neither belongs only in email.
